Georgetown Village's February Book Group Discussion
Monday, February 9th | 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. | GV Square
Join us for February’s GV Book Group Discussion as we dive into Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond, the Pulitzer Prize–winning exploration of how geography and environment have shaped the course of human history. Published in 1997, Diamond’s influential work argues that the development of agriculture, domesticated animals, and resulting food surpluses in certain regions, particularly Eurasia, paved the way for complex societies equipped with advanced technology, writing systems, and disease resistance. These advantages, he contends, ultimately gave rise to the “guns, germs, and steel” that allowed some cultures to dominate others.
